Coober Pedy – Opal-City im Untergrund

Mit dem Greyhound Bus ging es zunächst auf dem gleichen Weg wie Tags zuvor nach Uluru den Stuart Highway Richtung Süden. Jedoch bog der Bus nach 200 km diesmal nicht Richtung Ayers Rock an, sondern folgte pfeilgerade weiter dem Weg nach Süden. At first I went again like the day before to Uluru 200 km on Stuart Highway to the south. But this time the bus didn’t turn right to Ayers Rock. Instead it followed straight line an arrow the direction to the south. 

Endlich in Coober Pedy! 😎 Finally in Coober Pedy! 

Aufgrund der Zeitverschiebung zwischen Northern Territory und South Australia kam ich eine Stunde später als gedacht am Abend in Coober Pedy an und bezog wenig später meine Höhle in einem ehemaligen Opalsucher-Stollen. Due to the time difference between Northern Territory and South Australia I arrived one hour later than Expected Coober Pedy and moved into my cave in an old opal mine.

Am nächsten Tag machte ich bei 42 Grad Celsius über Mittag einen ausgedehnten sechsstündigen Spaziergang durch die Stadt…  😁 The next day I made a long walk of 6 hours at a temperature of 42 degrees Celsius through the city.

Am morgen ging es von Alice Springe mit einer Luxus-Bus-Tagestour Richtung Uluru. In the morning I went from Alice Springs with a one day luxury bus tour to Uluru.

Alice Springs – Wüstenstadt mit Flair

Nach dem doch eher kühlen Flug war ich froh über die sommerlichen ca. 35-40 Grad Celsius bei meiner Ankunft in Alice Springs. After the rather cool flight I was happy about the summer like around 35 to 40 degrees at my arrival at Alice Springs. 

Am Flughafen hab ich zufällig ein sehr nettes einheimisches Pärchen getroffen, das mich dann sogar noch ein wenig heimgesucht und mitgenommen hat in die Stadt… At the airport I met luckily a very nice local couple, that even showed me around and gave me a lift to the town.

Die Stadt ist sehr klein und übersichtlich, aber man fühlt sich ganz wohl dort. Mein Hostel hatte einen Pool und im klimatisierten Dorm war ein eigener Kühlschrank. – Luxus pur! The town is very small and easy too keep in overview. – It feels quite good there. My hostel had a pool and there was a separate fridge in the air conditioned dorm room. – Pure luxury!

Flug nach Alice Springs – Nasskalt & heiß

Nach einem heftigen Regenschauer, mache ich mich um ca. 5:20 in der Früh auf den Weg zum Flughafen. Die knappe halbe Stunde bis dort hin blieb es zuerst trocken, doch in den letzten 10 Minuten setzte erneut ein Regenschauer ein. Ich lief also mit all meinem Gepäck in kurzen Hosen, Flip Flops und mit Strohhut durch den Regen. Den Rucksack hatte ich so halbwegs mit einem Müllsack abgedeckt. Trotzdem wurde ich in dieser kurzen Zeit total nass. After a heavy rain shower I was approximately at 5:20 in the morning on the way to the airport. In the 30 minutes to go there if was dry at the beginning, but in the last 10 minutes the rain started again. So I went with all my luggage, in shorts and flip flops and with my straw hat through the rain. The backpack I covered more or less with a trash bag. Nevertheless I went completely wet in this short period of time. 

Der Flughafen in Darwin ist klein, aber sehr modern. Nach dem vollautomatischen Check-in ging es auch schon weiter zum Gate. The airport In Darwin is small, but very modern. After a fully automated check-in I already was on the way to the gate.

Zu diesem Zeitpunkt wurde mir bewusst, dass es blöd war, nicht noch ein frisches T-Shirt zum wechseln ins Handgepäck zu packen… At this point I recognized how stupid it was not to put a fresh T-shirt on the hand luggage… 

Mein Flug ging als erster planmäßig. My flight was the first on time.

Mit nassem T-shirt und feuchter kurzer Hose ging es ab ins klimatisierte Flugzeug. Natürlich fragte ich das Boardpersonal sofort nach einer Decke, aber wegen dem kurzen Inlandsflug war keine einzige Decke an Board (!). Ein Steward war allerdings so nett, mir eines Seiner Shirts für den Flug zu leihen. – Zum Glück! 😀 With wet T-shirt and shorts I went into the air conditioned airplane. Of course I immediately asked for a blanket. But sure to the short domestic flight there was not a single blanket on board (!). Luckily a friendly helpful steward borrowed me one of his own shirts for the flight.

Der Landeanflug in Alice Springs war spektakulär. Aufgrund von wolkenlos klarem Himmel und Sonnenschein konnte ich tolle Luftaufnahmen machen. The landing in alice Springs was spectacular. Due to cloudless clear sky and sunshine I was able to make amazing aerial photographs.

Darwin – Entspannung im tropischen Norden

Darwin war für mich ein ganz besonders tolles Erlebnis, weil ich dort supernette Couchsurfing Hosts (Amanda und Leigh) kennenlernen durfte. Dadurch zählt es für mich umsonst besten Zeit in Australien überhaupt. Darwin was an extraordinary amazing experience for me, because I learned to know very nice Couchsurfing hosts (Amanda and Leigh). That’s why it counts to my best times in Australia.

Zum Australia day (Nationalfeiertag) waren Amanda und Leigh zu Einer Barbecue party eingeladen, zu der sie mich mitgenommen haben. Die Party war toll! 😀 At Australia day (national day) Amanda and Leigh were invited to a BBQ party and I was invited to join. The party was amazing!

So gegen 6:00 morgens ging es ab zum Flughafen. Für einen Inlandsflug überpünktlich, aber besser als zu spät. Around 6:00 the morning I went to the airport. A bit early for a domestic flight, but better than too late.

Perth – Der vielversprechende Westen

Nach langen Einreisekontrollen inklusive Gepäckskontrolle (nur wegen meiner 2 Äpfel und 2 Mandarinen aus Malaysien… 😝) konnte ich den Flughafen um ca. 20:00 verlassen. Mein Couchsurfing-Host Allan, der so nett war, mich vom Flughafen abzuholen, war wegen der Verspätung leider sauer. Aber dafür hatten wir danach ein paar sehr nette Tage zusammen. After long lasting immigration controls including luggage checks (only because of my 2 apples and 2 mandarins from Malaysia… 😜) I could leave the airport only at around 20:00. My Couchsurfing host Allan, who was friendly enough to pick me up at the airport, was peeved due to the delay. But nevertheless we had some nice days together later. 

Bereits am nächsten Morgen begrüßte mich viel Sonnenschein bei meinem Spaziergang durch die Stadt… A lot of sunshine was greeting me already at the next morning when I was walking through the city…

Ein fünfstündiger Flug mit SCOOT bzw. einem völlig überteuerten Billigfluges aufgrund eines kalkuliert etwa 8-wöchigen chinesischen Neujahrsfestes, brachte mich nach Australien. A flight of five hours with SCOOT, respective a totally overpriced budget flight due to a calculated 8 week lasting Chinese New Year celebration,  was bringing me to Australia.

Dann setzte ich zum ersten Mal meinen Fuß auf australischen Boden. – Eine ziemlich große Insel… Then I put my foot foot the first time on Australian land. – A fairly huge island… 

Singapur & Das Ende der Indochina-Reise

Nach der Busfahrt von Melaka Sentral nach Johor Bahru und anschließender Weiterfahrt mit Lokalbus bis zur letzten Station vor der Grenze blieben mir noch genau 3 Ringgit (ca. 60 EUR Cent) übrig. Natürlich hab ich die noch in einem Supermarkt auf den Kopf gehauen. Danach bin ich über die Brücke Richtung Singapur marschiert. Es kam mir schon komisch vor, dass auf dem Highway kein Weg für Fußgänger war, aber mehrere Personen hatten mir zuvor versichert, dass ich trotzdem über die Brücke gehen kann. Also ging ich 10 Minuten weiter, bis mich plötzlich Hilfspolizisten zu sich riefen. – Es war doch nicht erlaubt über die Brücke zu gehen, zumindest nicht hier. Ich hatte keine Ahnung, wo der Fußgänger-Übergang war. Die Polizisten informierten mich, dass ich an der Grenze verhaftet werden würde, wenn ich hier weitergehen würde. Sie fragten mich nach meinen Absichten, weil ich mit meiner Vorgehensweise anscheinend nicht den Eindruck eines illegalen Einwanderern gemacht habe, obwohl ich mit den 2 Rucksäcken und dem Reisbauern-Strohhut wohl doch auch verdächtig ausgesehen habe. Ich habe natürlich erklärt, dass ich nach Singapur einreisen möchte (was sonst sollte ich wohl wollen???). Nach einigen Minuten wurde ich dann von einem Grenzpolizisten bis zur Grenze eskortiert und der ganze Spuk war vorbei. Also witzig war es schon, wie ich da in Singapur empfangen wurde… 😁 After the bus ride from Melaka Sentral to Johor Bahru and the local bus to the last station in front of the border I had exactly 3 Ringgit (about 60 EUR Cent) left in my pockets. Of course I spent all of them in a supermarket there. After that I walked across the bridge to Singapore. I found it strange that there was no walkway for pedestrians on the highway, but several people told me before that I can cross the bridge nevertheless. So I went 10 minutes further until supporting policemen called me to them. – In fact it was not allowed to walk across the bridge, at least not there. I had no idea where the pedestrian crossing was. The policemen informed me that I would get imprisoned at the border if I would  continue to walk there. They asked me about my intentions as I obviously didn’t look like an illegal immigrant with my behavior, although I might have looked quite suspicious with my 2 backpacks and my ricefarmer straw hat. Of course I explained that I would like to travel to Singapore (what else should have been my intention???). After some minutes I was finally escorted by a border policeman directly to the border and the spook was over. So it was quite funny how I was welcomed there in Singapore…  😁

Ich dachte immer, dass in Singapur jeder streng bestraft wird, wenn er auch nur einen Krümel Abfall irgendwo fallen lässt. Doch das ist in Wirklichkeit gar nicht so. Ich sah an manchen Orten Abfall herumliegen und Studenten und junge Leute sitzen auch hier auf dem Straßen oder im Park mit Zigaretten und Alkohol oder machen Picknick. I always thought that everybody would be fined severely who leaves a piece of rubbish somewhere. But in reality it is different. I saw some rubbish laying around and also here students and young people sitting on the streets of in the park with cigarettes and alcohol or are having a picnic.

Am nächsten Tag kam es dann zu einem Wiedersehen mit Ezad, der sich spontan dazu entschlossen hat auch nach Singapur zu kommen und mich dort zu treffen. 😀 The following day I met Ezad again who decided spontaneously to come to Singapore to meet me there.

Da ich in Singapur bei dem Bussen mit Ermäßigung fahren konnte, war meine erste U-Bahnfahrt (MRT) zum Flughafen zugleich auch meine einzige. Der Flughafen ist sehr schön und hat viele tolle Gratisangebote wie Massagestühle, Sonnenblumen-Garten, Kino, Gaming-Bereiche und mehr. – Ich war deshalb auch dementsprechend früh schon dort, obwohl mein Flug erst um 13:00 ging. As I was able to go with the busses in Singapore with a discount the ride to the airport was my first and also my only with the subway (MRT). The airport is beautiful and has many free offers like massage chairs, sunflower garden, cinema, gaming areas and more. – That’s why I was accordingly early there, although my flight was going only at 13:00.

Singapur war zugleich das Ende meiner Indochina-Reise. Ab hier beginnt der zweite Teil meines Abenteuers… Singapore was at the same time the end of my Indochina journey. From here on starts the second part of my adventure… 

Melaka – Handelszentrum des 14. Jahrhunderts

Ganz entspannt begann meine Busreise von Kuala Lumpur nach Melaka. Mit einem normalen Bus ging es zuerst zum Busterminal von Kuala Lumpur (BTN). Das Terminal gleicht einem Flughafen mittlere Größe mit an die 20 Gates, die auf verschiedenen Ebenen verteilt sind (!). Von dort ging es mit einem sehr modernen Bus mit stark verstellbaren Rückenlehnen weiter nach Melaka. The bus trip from Kuala Lumpur to Melaka started very relaxed. With a normal bus I went to the bus terminal of Kuala Lumpur (BTN). The terminal equals an airport or average size with about 20 gates that are spread at several levels (!). From there I continued the travel to Melaka with a very modern bus with very flexible seat reclines.

Durch einen witzigen Zufall hab ich bei einem Spaziergang am Abend in einem sehr schönen Hotel Ezad kennen gelernt. Wir verstanden uns sehr gut und so kam es, dass mir Ezad am nächsten Tag einige der schönsten Ecken seiner Stadt gezeigt hat. Ich freue mich sehr, dass wir uns getroffen haben und Freunde geworden sind! 😀 Due to a lucky event I met Ezad on one of my walks in a very beautiful hotel. We were talking a lot and so it happened that Ezad showed me some of the most beautiful corners of his town already on the next day. I’m glad that we met and that we became friends!
